King Saul of Israel, facing an impending battle against the Philistines and unable to receive guidance from God through prophets or dreams, disguises himself and seeks out the witch despite having previously banned mediums and spiritists from the land.
He asks her to summon the spirit of the deceased prophet Samuel, who appears and foretells Saul's defeat and death, along with that of his sons.
